Letter, 1834 May 5, Vaucluse Manufacturing Co., near Aiken, [S.C.], to James Spear, [New York], N.Y.

Letter in which Munro advises Spear against coming to Vaucluse because of the nature of the work, the approaching summer climate, the near completion of the job, the isolation of the work crew 16 miles from the nearest town, and the fact that "this is entirely a Temperance place," where use of liquor was punished with forfeiture of a month's wages.
